Creating Gender-Inclusive Content: The Big Pitchr's Inspiring Journey

As we celebrate International Women's Day, it is vital to acknowledge the valuable contribution of women across all spheres of life. At The Big Pitchr, a content solutions agency from India, we have been privileged to work with more than 500 women in our short existence. So, it is not just another Happy Women's Day article but a reflection of how the participation of women has made our business worthwhile.

Gender Inclusive Content: The Big Pitchr Story
On Women's Day: The Big Pitchr Story

Our journey started with the realisation that content is not just about words, images or videos but the stories and experiences that connect people. We saw a gap in the industry where content lacked the necessary diversity and inclusion that reflected our society. Then, we decided to create a content agency that understands gender diversity and the need for inclusion in content creation. We took inspiration from some of the most creative campaigns that highlighted the contribution of women and girls across the globe who are working towards building a more sustainable future for everyone.

Let us look at some of these campaigns that have inspired us to create an organisation employing only women and passionate about creating a genuinely gender-inclusive and forward-thinking language.

Gender-inclusive content: Inspired by great campaigns

As we started working with our team of talented women, we were inspired by some of the great campaigns that celebrated women's contributions to society. These campaigns highlighted not only the struggles of women but also their resilience and strength.

Tanishq

An excellent campaign that inspired us was the Tanishq advertisement. The ad showcased a woman getting married with her daughter in attendance. She is beautiful, but she is also dark. Yet, in a society where we do not talk about second marriages here, we show her looking radiantly comfortable in her skin. Also, her little daughter celebrates her wedding with genuine happiness that is uniquely childish.

To add to the narrative, the groom is fairer than her. It is an ad that stays with you as it touches a chord. To some, it looks contrived. But to us, it works because it breaks too many gender stereotypes in casting and storytelling. This campaign was a bold and courageous move by Tanishq. It showed us how impactful and meaningful advertising can be when it seeks to challenge societal norms and celebrate diversity.

Kalyan Jewellers

Another campaign that inspired us was the digital campaign by Kalyan Jewellers called "I am more than enough."

This campaign aimed to break the gender stereotypes that have held women back for centuries. It featured regional brand ambassadors Ritabhari Chakraborty, Pooja Sawant, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Kinja Rajpriya, who spoke out against the societal boxes women are often put into, and it celebrated the strength and resilience of modern Indian women.

This campaign resonated with us deeply because it emphasised the importance of empowering women and encouraging them to break free from the constraints of societal norms.

Manthan: The Movie

Creating Gender-Inclusive Content: The Big Pitchr

The Manthan movie, directed by Shyam Benegal, was another source of inspiration. This movie showcased the role of women in the cooperative movement and the milk revolution. It highlighted women's crucial role in transforming India's dairy industry and showcased the importance of gender diversity in all aspects of life. This movie inspired us to create a business that was not only gender-inclusive but also celebrated the contributions of women in all fields.

During the course of the movie, the women become agents of change. They become workers, but they do not lose their inherent feminine selves. It was a seamless transition that created the largest cooperative in India. It's a story of hope and portrayal of real women who continue to inspire us.

Plum

Finally, the #PlumGoodnessStories initiative by one of India's leading beauty and personal care brands celebrated the stories of goodness with unique manifestations. It aimed to celebrate the efforts of women who strive to make the world a better place through their work, even if it doesn't turn into success.

This campaign resonated with us deeply because it emphasised the importance of celebrating the small things in life and the efforts of women who work tirelessly to create a better world for everyone.

At The Big Pitchr, we take immense pride in working with these amazingly talented women who have inspired us to create a gender-inclusive, forward-thinking business. We are passionate about creating a language that celebrates diversity and encourages women to break free from the constraints of societal norms. Our team of talented women understands the importance of creating inclusive and empowering content, and we are committed to ensuring that our work reflects these values.

The Final Word

The campaigns, artworks, and content ideas we have highlighted have helped us create an organisation empowered by women. We are inspired by the courage and resilience of modern Indian women, and we are committed to creating content that celebrates their contributions and empowers them to break free from the constraints of societal norms. We take immense pride in working with these talented women, and we look forward to continuing to create impactful and meaningful content that celebrates diversity and inclusion.
